Moving from India to UK…

Series overview

“When you want something, the entire universe conspires in helping you achieve it”. – Paulo Coelho

I moved out of the country last year mostly for higher speciality experience in my field and partly to embark on my dreams. This whole journey has been difficult, exciting as well as scary and has involved hard work. I want to share this with you guys because I hope to inspire you into following your dreams.

I had no contacts in my field (Anaesthesiology) in the UK. I had to do everything on my own including job hunt and applications. I can gladly say I did not have to apply for loans nor borrow money from anyone. I planned my finances throughout the process.

I applied for my work visa online without involving any agencies. Also managed to work through the system to get my medical license approved in the UK.

I am very fortunate to have the support of my parents and family members, my partner who has supported me throughout my residency and always encourages me to reach for the stars, my teacher who taught me everything about Anaesthesia and being a good doctor, my friends who have supported me as well as tolerated my break downs!

And apart from these technicalities, it was the exhilarating feeling of being all alone in a different country. And 10 months down the line as I reflect back, I have had my ups and downs and this journey has taught me so much. I have explored different aspects in my life which I would never do it otherwise.

I hope you like this short series divided into 5 parts.

Will be posting part one soon…….

Cheers!
